Beyond Fair Weather Recreation: Embracing Year-Round Outdoor Programming
Limited “nice” weather days and increasingly comfort-focused lifestyles are influencing how often people engage in outdoor recreation. Explore the value of year-round, all-weather programming and encourage parks and recreation professionals to consider how outdoor experiences in every season can support health, learning, and resilience.
Building Community Together- Program Partners, Fundraisers and Spaces
For park and recreation professionals, COMMUNITY isn’t just a concept, it’s our purpose. It’s why we jump out of bed, power through packed schedules, and rest easy knowing we’ve made a difference. Bring us together at an Urban Exchange or PRPS Conference, and the energy is contagious. The impact is real.
Connect & Engage
When participants’ levels of connection and engagement are high their possibility of finding enjoyment and value in recreation experiences is enhanced. In moments of connection you feel a link, a spark, with the program and with other people. Connection promotes engagement. When engaged, you’re focused, occupied, fully involved, and further building upon those initial connections. Regularly repeated experiences of connection and engagement improve the likelihood of three critical participant outcomes: Unity, Community, and Belonging.
