Environmental education is a vital force for fostering a sustainable future, and every year, the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Educators (PAEE) proudly honors outstanding individuals, programs, and initiatives in the field. Now, through December 13, 2024, nominations are open for two prestigious awards: the PAEE Awards and the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) Awards. This is a fantastic opportunity to recognize the dedication, creativity, and hard work of educators and organizations across Pennsylvania.
PAEE Awards: Honoring Passion and Innovation in Environmental Education
The PAEE Awards celebrate excellence across various levels of environmental education. These awards serve as a source of inspiration, bringing together educators, community members, and organizations committed to environmental stewardship. Award recipients gain valuable recognition and visibility within Pennsylvania’s environmental education community, helping to expand their impact and influence.
Keystone Award: recognizes an educator who has dedicated their life to advancing the quality and opportunity for environmental education in Pennsylvania.
Daisy S. Klinedinst Memorial Award: The award recognizes an educator with fewer than five years of experience who shows dedication to expanding their involvement with environmental education.
Outstanding Environmental Educator Award: Recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of environmental education in Pennsylvania.
Outstanding Environmental Education Program Award: Honors programs that engage participants in meaningful learning experiences, showcasing creativity and effectiveness.
Business Partner of the Year Award: Highlights a business that demonstrates exceptional commitment to environmental education, fostering sustainability and community involvement.
Government Partner of the Year Award: Acknowledges government entities or officials who champion environmental education initiatives within the state.
Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Education: This award is presented to someone who has contributed to environmental education in a non-teaching area, such as publishing, research, administration, facilities development, or other area.
MWEE Awards: Fostering Watershed Education for a Healthier Future
With watershed health becoming increasingly urgent, the MWEE Awards spotlight educators and programs' critical role in cultivating a sense of responsibility for our water resources. These awards underscore the power of MWEEs in transforming student perspectives and creating hands-on learning experiences that inspire action toward healthier, more sustainable watersheds. The Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) Awards recognize exemplary work in watershed education, a cornerstone of environmental awareness and action. These awards emphasize the importance of hands-on, place-based learning and are given in two categories, The Partner of Excellence Award and the School of Excellence Award.
