Parks and Recreation for High School and College Students as a Career Choice National Promotional Campaign / Video

Initiative of: The Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (PRPS) and the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA)

Purpose:

To expose and encourage high school and college students to the field of parks and recreation as a career path, including the diverse and wide-ranging job fields that fit into this career.

Audience:

High School and College Students, plus their counselors, teachers, families, professors, and other career exploration connections.

Process:

  • Create Video, PSAs and supportive social media
  • Create nationwide marketing and dissemination plan
  • Design supplementary educational materials
  • Secure sponsorships to cover this project

  • State Affiliates & Partners
  • NRPA Networks
  • AAPRA Branding & Social Media
  • Affiliated committees
  • Other: movie theaters, partnerships, website landing page, large city channels, career counseling, university career centers, etc.

Video Details:

  • 4-minute finished video
  • Focus on unique jobs in the field that may interest young people
  • Focus on personal stories of recreation professionals
  • Professionally recorded and produced (Blackbird Media)
  • Interviewees carefully selected by a panel of professionals
