Annually, the PRPS Membership Committee is tasked with reviewing the current dues structure and making recommendations to the Board of Directors. As part of this year’s review, the Membership Committee worked with the Finance Committee to evaluate the effects of inflation on our Society budget and researched membership dues rates for NRPA and similar state park and recreation associations, including California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ohio, and Oregon.
PRPS membership dues have historically been adjusted approximately every five years, but current dues rates have remained unchanged since 2016. During these past eight years, PRPS has weathered the challenges of the pandemic and has seen increased costs consistent with the national inflation rate, which has risen 30% since 2016, according to the Consumer Price Index.
After careful consideration, the Membership Committee is recommending a 15% increase in membership dues, rounded to $5 increments for most member categories. This change will help PRPS respond to national economic changes while continuing to provide exceptional professional development events, networking opportunities, resources, advocacy, and technical assistance to help us excel in our positions.

As provided by the PRPS Bylaws Article II, Section 1, dues changes are subject to approval by a majority consensus of member votes. If approved, the changes will take effect for the 2025 membership year. Please take a moment to cast your ballot by August 23, 2024 to approve or disapprove these changes: Vote Here
