This is a part-time administrative position of some difficulty and complexity. The employee is responsible for assisting in the organization and administration of recreational programming and performs a variety of technical and confidential administrative support duties for the Parks & Recreation Department. The work requires the exercise of independent judgment in addressing situations involving the public, intergovernmental, and interdepartmental relations. Assignments are received under the direction of the Director of Parks & Recreation in the form of general outlines of desired results and the employee is expected to develop methods and routines for the completion of assigned tasks. The position may require work on evenings and weekends and will be on a part-time basis with limited hours per week as assigned.
Essential Job Functions/Not limited to the Following:
Assists the Parks & Recreation Department in achieving its daily and seasonal goals within available resources in a supporting role.
Responds to public inquiries regarding the Department’s services and programming made by telephone or email as well as correspondences made in person or during public meetings.
Assists in the planning, organization, administration, and marketing of a year-round schedule of community and recreation programs with primary emphasis on the organization and processing of programming registrations and providing planning support for community events.
Assists in carrying out the responsibilities of the Department’s marketing plan by preparing electronic publications such as social media and e-newsletter, updating the relevant areas of the website, and distributing information throughout the Township.
Assists in the scheduling of parks and recreation facilities under the Department’s oversight.
Assists in the development of short- and long-range plans; gathers and prepares information for studies and reports; and makes recommendations as requested.
Performs all other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications -
Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in the field of recreation or a related field from an accredited college or university, with two (2) years of responsible professional experience including internships in recreation, physical education or community programs. An equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating considerable knowledge and exposure to the principles and practices of recreation programs may be considered.
Must be self-motivated and committed to the profession with sound knowledge on the principals of administration, event planning and coordination, and facility management.
Good knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation programming; good knowledge of equipment and facilities required for a comprehensive parks and recreation program; knowledge of community recreation and leisure needs and resources.
Ability to organize, coordinate, and administer community programs; ability to analyze, research, and utilize a variety of reports and information.
Must have a valid Driver’s License at the time of employment.
