This is an administrative/supervisory position in which the employee oversees the Township's recreation programs. The position has full responsibility for the operation and promotion of special events for community members ranging from children to adults. The position is part-time with the majority of hours worked in late spring/summer. Work extends to include promoting and supporting varied recreation activities suited to the interest level of residents and based on the approved recommendations from the Parks and Recreation Board. The employee functions under the administrative direction of the Township Manager and within the framework of policies established by the Board of Supervisors. The employee also performs other assigned duties.
- The Park Coordinator is a part-time position. The employee may work longer hours and/or Saturdays and Sundays as needed, usually during the spring and summer months.
- This position is classified as exempt or non-exempt pursuant to the Allen Township Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee must be able to read and write at a college level. The employee must be able to hear, speak, occasionally move 50 pounds from one location to another, use a phone, proficient with computer use, and be able to climb up and down stairs. Work is performed in office settings and outdoors. Employee may be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, direct sunlight or rain, as well as dusty or wet environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides staff assistance to the Park & Recreation Board and works with the Board for organizing events and budgeting.
- Works with the Township Manager and Township Treasurer for yearly budgeting.
- Organizes events within the approved budget.
- Attends Park & Recreation Board meetings and prepares minutes from the meetings for review and approval of the Park & Recreation Board members.
- Submit minutes to the Board of Supervisors for review.
- As needed, present recommendations from the Park & Recreation Board to the Board of Supervisors during a Board of Supervisors meeting.
- Researches current recreational practices and proposes goals.
- Plans recreational events and recruits/directs volunteers.
- Keeps accurate attendance and registration reports.
- Handles complaints and shares public feedback to the Park and Recreation Board.
- Maintains a positive relationship with Public Works.
- Schedules field use and resolves conflicts with park fields and facility usage.
- Reviews and submits Park Reservation applications to the Township Manager.
- Maintains Park Reservation applications; park records, local sport clubs’ schedule records, receipts, and general paperwork associated with event planning.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative planning and working relationships with other local community agencies--governmental, voluntary, and private, and with state, regional, and national agencies concerned with recreation, parks, conservation, and related fields.
- Perform inventories.
- Attend training and development programs as needed.
- Performs all other tasks as required by the Board of Supervisors and/or the Township Manager.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic first-aid
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check

WAGE
Starting $26.96 per hour.
