For 52 years, Wildlands Conservancy has been the Lehigh River Watershed’s leading land trust.  Our mission is to protect and restore critical areas and waterways and educate the community to create a legacy of a healthy, sustainable environment for future generations. As a part of a dynamic team, you will support the conservancy in the stewardship and management of our numerous nature preserves and conservation easements throughout eastern PA.  For additional information on Wildlands Conservancy, please visit our website at www.wildlandspa.org.

In this role you will:  

  • Be involved with extensive forest/habitat restoration on Conservancy preserves; 
  • assist with young forest and early successional habitat restoration; 
  • identify and manage invasive plant species, planting/fostering native trees and shrubs; 
  • build and maintain trails on Conservancy preserves; 
  • conduct biological inventories;  
  • represent Wildlands Conservancy to Preserve visitors; 
  • complete small construction projects (signs, boardwalks, etc.); and 
  • minor facilities maintenance. 

To be successful you will need:  

  • The ability to conduct physical labor in an outdoor setting and in all types of weather; 
  • the experience of safely using power and hand tools; 
  • the ability to work independently;  
  • completed a minimum of two years of college level work in some aspect of environmental science; 
  • the ability to complete assignments, sometimes with minimum instruction, and to adhere to prescribed routines and procedures; 
  • to possess a general awareness of current issues facing natural resource protection; 
  • to possess capability to work in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions; 
  • have the ability to interpret various types of maps; 
  • ability to keep organized records; 
  • ability to lift 50 lbs; 
  • ability to hike 5 miles; and 
  • a valid driver’s license and functioning personal vehicle.
