Join us for this 6-week online, interactive course designed to assist Recreation and Park Professionals prepare for the Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) Examination. The CPRP is a widely recognized certification in the field and is based on peer identified skills and responsibilities and indicates professional competency.
Description
With the growth of park and recreation services, it is imperative that recreation professionals continue to develop their skills and capabilities. More and more, park and recreation departments in Pennsylvania and across the country are requiring CPRP Certification for professional positions. Using NRPA’s Official Study Guide (6th edition) for the CPRP Examination, participants will work together in a cohort to review chapters, discuss materials, and prepare for the exam. Each week focuses on a specific chapter and key points to master. Sessions will include reviews, study exercises, discussions, practice exams, and test-taking strategies. At the end of the course, all candidates will be well prepared to take and pass the CPRP examination.
Schedule
Each week, students will read and study a chapter in the study guide. At the end of each week, a Zoom meeting will be held for the entire class to discuss and review the chapter and review the week's assignment. The instructor will be on hand to answer questions, guide discussions, and quiz participants.

Who Can Register?
Professionals in the field who are interested in increasing their personal and professional knowledge and standing. Candidates must qualify according to one of the following standards:
•Hold a recreation degree from an accredited college or university (COAPRT)
•Hold a recreation degree and 1 year of full-time experience in the field
•Hold a college degree and 3 years of full-time experience in the field
•Have an associate’s degree and 4 years of experience or 5+ years of experience in the field
Instructors
Dan Hendey, PRPS Senior Education Manager, is a CPRE, CPSI, and a certified Pennsylvania Instructor with over 20 years of experience in education. Dan has taught this course for 5 years and coached hundreds of students on a diversity of topics in classrooms, workshops, conferences, and online. In addition to being a certified educator, Dan has worked extensively with recreation and non-profit organizations and has extended experience in the competencies being assessed.
Kealy Daye, PRPS Education Manager, is a CPRP with seven years' experience in the field of Parks and Recreation. Kealy was previously a camp director, supervising dozens of camp staff while also earning her Master's of Public Administration. In addition to her Certified Parks and Recreation Professional credential, she is also a Certified Challenge Course Manager and an American Red Cross Instructor.

CPRP Cancelation Policy
PRPS will refund your registration, less a $25 processing fee if your cancellation is received in writing before course materials are shipped (note: PRPS ships course materials as soon as they are received from NRPA and cannot guarantee shipping dates). After materials are shipped, cancellations are subject to an additional $60 fee.
