Get Outdoors PA Webinar: "Bike Up" Your Parks & Rec Programming

Join us for a free webinar to learn how Centre Region Parks and Recreation (CRPR) in State College, PA, incorporated bike classes and events into their parks program and had fun in the process.

CRPR started out slowly by offering its first two bike classes in the fall of 2016.  The program grew quickly and in 2018 they offered nine classes in the spring, eleven classes in the summer and they plan to offer another 5 classes in the fall. Beth Lee, Recreation Supervisor, Centre Region Parks and Recreation and Trish Meek, Transportation Planner, Centre Regional Planning Agency will talk about program logistics and provide information on:

Developing a Park Facility Inspection Model

Representatives from the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department discuss the formation of their Operational Standards Unit, which oversees the inspection of facilities and parkland within the 11,000 acres of the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation system. This presentation includes the program’s history, process for the development of standards and inspection sheets, auditing, and the successes and challenges of the first two years. The speakers also detail their plans for programmatic expansion over the next two years to show how past practices, continued research and departmental needs inform the future of their inspection model.
