About the Institute
The Pennsylvania Therapeutic Recreation Institute (TRI) has provided quality education and training for Therapeutic Recreation Specialists and Activity Coordinators for over 50 years. One low fee covers admission all sessions, NCTRC hours or CEU credits, a networking social and the ability to view recorded sessions for six months
TRI becomes TRVI again
The 2022 TRI was cancelled sue to continued concerns and shortages throughout the field. The 54th Institute will again be all-virtual or a TRVI. The 2023 TRVI will be held from Monday January 9th through Friday January 27th with various informative and timely sessions and featured speakers. The TRVI kicks off on the morning of Jan. with our keynote and a choice of presentations. On Friday the 20th, we take some time to socialize, network, and have a little fun during an extended lunch hour.
From January 11 through the 27th, the TRVI will feature single sessions on alternating days that address issues, ideas, and innovations in therapeutic recreation. . All sessions will be recorded and available for attendee viewing (and credit) until May 31st. NCTRC credit hours or NRPA CEU's are available for every session. Attendees can earn up to 14 hours toward their certifications this year. The price for the TRVI is $150 for members and $250.00 for non-members. The price includes attendance, access to all recorded sessions, and NCTRC/CEU hours. In addition, non-members will receive a 1-year membership in PRPS. This membership entitles you to the latest research in the field, access to industry resources, and discounts on future training events, webinars, and classes.

The TRI will delve into three areas critical for therapeutic Recreation practitioners; Professional Development, Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation, and Long Term Care and Dementia. The TRI will feature 11 educational sessions and an opportunity to earn up to 14 NCTRC credit hours. Anticipated sessions include:

This year’s keynote speaker is the talented Emma G. She is a renowned TEDx Speaker and singer/songwriter, who harnesses the power of music to motivate, uplift, and empower audiences. Born with a rare neurological condition, Emma G has used music to recover from multiple traumas by writing and singing her truth, sharing her experiences, and turning her lessons into blessings. Music is an incredibly effective tool for transformation: helping us to overcome struggles, trauma, and stress with songs of resilience, self-love, and stepping into one’s power.
