Join Carrie Chiusano, Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer, for this intensive, informative full-day seminar. This is the required seminar and training for those pursuing Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP). 

With Americans living longer and the aging of the baby boom generation, the sheer number of people with dementia—including Alzheimer’s disease — is rising dramatically. Nearly 50% of residents in long-term care have been diagnosed with Dementia and the only way to provide successful care is to understand the disease process and the significance behind dementia-related actions

This seminar is recommended for all who provide services to those living with dementia.  Participants will gain an understanding of dementia  They will also learn about and identify the common causes of repetitiveness and sundowning and learn alternative success-oriented interventions for these symptoms.

The seminar includes expert instruction, all materials, and lunch and qualifies you for certification with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) for only $35.00 ($145.00 value).  For more information about the NCCDP and certification, please go to www.nccdp.org and select Certifications. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion and earn 7 hours of NCTRC credit or .7 continuing education units (CEUs).

Carrie Chiusano is our seminar leader and has 30-plus years of long-term care experience, most of which were spent helping to shape and implement the Woodside Place philosophy of specialty care for persons living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.  Woodside Place was one of the nation’s first dementia-specific residential care communities, designed to meet the holistic needs of older adults living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
