Pennsylvania Park Maintenance Institute

Would you be surprised to hear that most municipalities report that maintenance is the number one challenge in their parks and recreation system?
After a year of figuring out ways to help local parks and recreation systems enhance their capacity to take care of their parks, PRPS is ready to launch the Pennsylvania Park Maintenance Institute! Learn all about the Institute: its purpose, services, and plan for establishment and growth over the next five years. Hear about ways that our Institute will be of service to you. Add your own suggestions about how we can ensure the Institute’s success in helping our communities develop and strengthen the skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources needed to survive, adapt, and thrive in the fast-changing world of public parks and recreation.

The Value of Evaluation in Parks and Recreation

There is a growing urgency for parks and recreation professionals to use data for decision making and justify their programs and services. Presenters will discuss why evaluation is essential to the delivery of services.  Presenters will share how they are beginning to measure the impact of park/trail renovations, and the use of park facilities in their community.  Participants will leave with an understanding of existing tools and strategies to measure visitor use, the impact of park development projects, and park conditions that they can utilize in their own communities.

Speaker: Craig Colistra, Program Officer, Pottstown Health & Wellness Foundation
