Director of Outdoor Experiences & EducationThe Director of Outdoor Experiences plans, develops, communicates, coordinates, educates, advises, and implements a comprehensive program of outdoor education and outdoor recreation in alignment with the organization’s strategic vision, development goals, and financial goals. This position manages diverse facilities and staff to provide natural history, cultural history, historical interpretation and related outdoor education programs and services to the public and maximize the public's understanding of Cleveland Metroparks as a natural resource based system, and its conservation mission. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in biology, natural resources, education, or a related field required; supplemented by a minimum of five years of experience, which includes supervisory responsibilities, in outdoor education, outdoor recreation, historical interpretation, or managing public parks; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license under the laws of the State of Ohio. CIG and CIP certification preferred • Ability to organize and effectively manage a diversity of program services • Demonstrated management skills, including communication (verbal and written), visioning, problem solving, strategic planning, prioritizing, delegating and the ability to analyze diverse facts, and develop clear concise reports/recommendations • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public. • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings. • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization. • Management skills and strong business acumen, including problem solving, vision, ability to manage multiple programs and meet deadlines, collaboration, leadership, decision making and ability to analyze diverse facts and develop clear and concise reports and recommendations. • Ability to work cooperatively with others. • Proficiency in software programs including all Microsoft Office programs. • Mature professional attitude and considerable discretion, including ability to manage confidential information. • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative. • Must pass a background, credit and fingerprint check. • Must be a non-smoker/tobacco user.
